The Simpsons
The Simpsons is
the longest-running
animated television series in
American
television
history, with 17 seasons and 356 episodes since it debuted on
December 17,
1989 on
FOX, and is a
spin-off of
The Tracey Ullman Show. The
television series is produced by
Gracie Films for
20th Century Fox.
Highly
satirical, the show lampoons many
aspects of the human condition, but primarily parodies the "Middle
American" lifestyle, its titular family exhibits, and more generally
American
culture, society, and even television itself. In the
Channel 4
programs, the
100 Greatest Kids' TV shows
(2001) and the
100 Greatest Cartoons (2005), it
was voted into first place. Plus, on 100 Greatest TV characters, which was also
on Channel 4, Homer Simpson was also voted into first place. The Simpsons is
seen by many critics as the greatest animated television programme ever. |
